New game idea: Dungeon Explorer (working title)

After working on my "FAST" game, I realized I didn't really know where I wanted to go with it. I had a level, a boss, and some cool ideas, but I couldn't quite figure out how to make it work in terms of balance.... so I want to put "FAST" on the backburner for now, until I can get more experience with game design.

The new project I would like to make is a little 2D dungeon crawl game like Dark Cloud/Dark Chronicle.


I want to use characters from my previous games as party members (Janitor from ModSim, and Green Ranger from FAST for example).


I'm posting here because I thought maybe we could make this a group project? It might be fun for all of us to get together and collaborate on something. I could definitely use some extra help in the creativity department.

Have you ever considered... irregular beat frequencies, such as 1/5th scale, 1/7th scale and 1/11th scale?


Strange, yet powerful things can be done that are very... standout if irregular beat frequency is used.


I'm no sound artist (maybe I could be, I've never really tried) but maybe I could do Art assistance / Music direction.

I've listened to Asian music that was done in the 1/7th scale. It was rather elegant If I do say so.

I'm just saying, if 1/2, 1/3, or 1/4 is your vision, then that's cool.

I've not put much thought into the music direction. I wouldn't mind hearing some examples of irregular beat music though. Feel free to post em.

I'm not good at programming so I don't see how I could be much use except for imagination purposes.

Huh, This didn't show up as a new thread. Kinda sad because this is a neat direction you're wanting to go, Big Guy. I'm not a programmer, the only bit of programming I ever did was for fallout new vegas mods but since most of that coding is premade, it doesnt even count. I'm also not the best artist ever but I think I could contribute to ideas n such like the rest of us here. WHat kind of themes for your characters are you looking for? Like scifi, midieval, fantasy, ect?
